Quickly, a fruitful and adventurous relationship formed, and their collective work has been developing ever since. The band consists of Laurie Christen on flute, Mattia Facchini and Flavie Ndam on saxophones, Valerian Alfaré on trumpet, Ferdinand Silberg on trombone, Wiebke Hennig on violin, Selma Aerni on cello, Nil Flückiger on double bass, Maxence Nappez on percussion and Jonas Lusti on guitar and composition. Together, they explore the structures of the Alpine musical tradition, seeking to reclaim and further develop them. Traditional concepts are abstracted, blended with other styles, and infused with contemporary content. In this process, the compositional approach plays just as significant a role as the ensemble’s performance style. The ensemble playing is guided by radically democratic principles – everyone can, but no one must.
